You Can Homeschool, Mom: A Faith-Filled Journey (Part 1)
If you're a mom who's feeling the call to homeschool for the first time, you might be feeling a bit overwhelmed. Maybe you’re asking yourself, “Am I qualified for this? Will I be able to teach my children well? How can I balance everything?” These questions are normal, and many moms have been exactly where you are now.
But here's the good news: You can homeschool your children. In fact, you were made for this! With God’s grace and guidance, homeschooling can become one of the most rewarding journeys you’ll ever embark on as a mother.
God Equips Us for Every Good Work
When God calls us to do something new, He never leaves us to do it alone. Scripture reassures us that He equips us for every task He lays before us:
"And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." — 2 Corinthians 9:8
Homeschooling might feel like a monumental task, but remember that it’s one of the “good works” He’s equipping you for. God gives us what we need—patience, wisdom, creativity, and perseverance. And the beautiful thing about homeschooling is that it becomes not just about academics but also about discipling your children in the ways of the Lord.
You Are Your Child’s First Teacher
From the moment your child was born, you’ve been their first teacher. You taught them how to walk, talk, eat, and navigate the world around them. Homeschooling is an extension of this role. It's a natural progression of what you've already been doing since day one.
Deuteronomy 6:6-7 reminds us of this truth:
"These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up."
Homeschooling provides an amazing opportunity to make these words come alive every day. As you teach math, science, reading, and history, you can weave God's Word and His truth into every lesson, guiding your children not only in knowledge but in character and faith.
